In order to heal, the public needs to hear the undisclosed story from official sources. Obama’s election has popularized the term “post-racial.” But is ethnicity becoming less important or significant in society? As much as we might wish it, to declare it is not to make it so. Predicting the future now

As someone who is frequently asked, "What's coming next?" I find that talking about the future is perhaps one of the easiest things to do: you are never wrong, because the future never actually arrives. Marshall McLuhan used to say, "Never predict anything that hasn't already happened", because – and this is most important – "The future of the future is the present".
Aye, there's the rub – the problem is not one of seeing the future, but of perceiving the present. The present is a very tricky thing, because it has a habit of getting away from us and very quickly becoming the past. When I ask people to speak of the present, most often they will speak of anything but the present. They will speak about the future – what they're about to do. They will speak about what they have just done – the past.
It is actually very difficult to speak about the present since most of our language is geared towards these other two temporal orientations. This is not surprising, since, for the last 3,000 to 4,000 years, we have designed and developed our culture almost exclusively for the purposes of recalling the past, or...

Washington - A former senior U.S. intelligence official Tuesday withdrew from consideration for a top intelligence post in the new Obama administration amid protests from liberal groups linking him to the Bush administration' s "enhanced interrogation" and secret transfers of terrorism suspects to nations that torture prisoners and political opponents.
The move by John Brennan, a former senior CIA official and head of President-elect Barack Obama's intelligence transition team, is the first personnel setback to hit what's otherwise been a swift and smooth transition to the White House for Obama.
In a letter to Obama, a copy of which was obtained by McClatchy, Brennan denied involvement in the Bush administration' s detainee and interrogation policies and said he was taking himself out of the running to avoid entangling the new administration in unnecessary controversy. CIA Scandal Erupts
It must be the worst nightmare of every CIA director — the agency ignores its own rules and regulations and kills innocent Americans, and then the people in charge of the operation lie to Congress and cover up what happened.
The nightmare has apparently come to life and it became public today when Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-Mich.) announced that a report by the CIA’s own inspector general found that agency officers apparently ignored standing rules and regulations governing when they could shoot at aircraft in the drug war in Latin America. The lapses led to the death of at least 10 innocent civilians, Hoekstra said, including two Americans, Veronica “Roni” Bowers and her daughter, Charity, in April 2001. They were missionaries in Peru heading home when the CIA ordered a Peruvian Air Force jet to shoot down their plane. The shoot down was part of a joint U.S.-Peruvian anti-drug program that began in the mid-1990s. CIA officers worked with Peruvian pilots to spot planes believed to be carrying illegal drugs.

The Obama administration’s intelligence team is taking shape. So far, we’ve got the names of five people tapped for the transition team.
Top of the list from our intelligence community source is John Brennan, an early supporter of Obama’s and one of his foreign policy advisors. Brennan’s resume stands rock solid. He was director of the National Counterterrorism Center and is the chairman of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance, a Washington advocacy group for the intelligence community.
Next on the list was retired Army Maj. Gen. Bob Harding, former director of operations at the Defense Intelligence Agency and deputy to the Army’s Chief of Intelligence. He is now head of his own firm, Harding Security Associates.
Women figure prominently on the Obama list. Jami Miscik, is being touted as the co-leader — with Brennan — of the intel transition team. The former deputy director for intelligence at CIA, she is now global head of sovereign risk at Lehman Brothers. Afghanistan now supplies over 90 percent of the world's heroin, generating nearly $200 billion in revenue. Since the U.S. invasion on Oct. 7, 2001, opium output has increased 33-fold (to over 8,250 metric tons a year).
The U.S. has been in Afghanistan for over seven years, has spent $177 billion in that country alone, and has the most powerful and technologically advanced military on Earth. GPS tracking devices can locate any spot imaginable by simply pushing a few buttons.
Still, bumper crops keep flourishing year after year, even though heroin production is a laborious, intricate process. The poppies must be planted, grown and harvested; then after the morphine is extracted it has to be cooked, refined, packaged into bricks and transported from rural locales across national borders. To make heroin from morphine requires another 12-14 hours of laborious chemical reactions. Thousands of people are involved, yet—despite the massive resources at our disposal—heroin keeps flowing at record levels.

Thanks to the power of the web and live broadcasts on television, the conspiracy theories surrounding the events of 9/11 - when terrorists attacked the World Trade Centre in New York and the Pentagon in Washington - have surpassed those of Roswell and JFK in traction. Despite repeated claims by al-Qaeda that it planned, organised and orchestrated the attacks, several official and unofficial investigations into the collapse of the Twin Towers which concluded that structural failure was responsible and footage of the events themselves, the conspiracy theories continue to grow in strength.
